J Crew sweater, Theory shorts, Coach bag, Bass Wayfarer loafers, Vintage sunglasses

Finally got around to convincing my lazy lovely boyfriend to snap photos of me with his fancy Canon 7D this weekend. I guess it goes both ways, lately I've been looking like a bit of a slob since I've been too stressed out to care about my appearance. I guess we both just need an extra push to keep this up? I should probably buy one of those new compact SLRs since one of those would be easier to have on me than lugging around his camera. And I should probably start caring more about what I wear, oops. We'll see.

Walked over to Hayes Valley this weekend for brunch and a little bit of shopping. Oops. Finally bought these boots! I'm still holding on to my favorite Rachel Comey boots (wrote something about them for Refinery 29 here) but I'm super excited about finally getting these boots after two years of wanting them. Success!

I'm selling my Miu Miu clogs on Threadflip by the way. I'm cleaning out my closet this week so I'll be posting a few more things there and also updating my Tumblr shop.

Every time this week that I've thought about last Sunday's trip to How Weird Street Faire I cringe a little and try to remember why I dragged myself out of my comfy bed to go there. Too many underage girls in bras and tutus. Too much wahwahwahhh dubstep. Too sober, really. The only thing that made it all worth it was getting a torta from my old roommate Caroline's food truck, Fogcutter. Seriously, that torta al pastor and Mexican coke saved my life. Hanging out on the roof away from all of the madness was alright, though.

I'm updating my Threadflip account tonight, don't forget to check it out!

Super belated photo from my Instagram but I wore this outfit on Easter Sunday. Nabbed this white girl. by Band of Outsiders dress from Bastille during a super sale a while ago. I'll post the dress without the parka here one of these days, it's gorgeous. Actually, there are a few things I can't wait to share, I'm so excited I'm finally able to start updating again.

Hey look, no shorts! The weather cooled down a bit so I've been forced to wear jeans all week, no fun. It was actually nice out for Bay to Breakers this weekend, so glad I got to wake up at 8am to this outside the window. Any excuse to day drink is fine by me although we didn't really venture past the Panhandle or leave the area to go the whole route. I think we may go down to Mountain View tomorrow to see our friends the Tenderlions play at I Love This City. Time to hang out with more underage kids? Yeck. I wish they hadn't changed the venue, getting down there is going to be annoying. Tenderlions always put on a fun show though.

Whoops, hair flip. Still working on revamping the blog, may work on a new layout if I have time this weekend. My boyfriend and I have been trying to get a schedule going so I can post at least twice a week or more if we have time. We have a little bet going where if his band MANICS wins this local poll he would get me to start posting every other day. Hah, we'll see. I will admit that it's been a while since I've been this stoked on blogging. To be completely honest, it kind of lost its appeal to me after my camera broke and it became a chore to get my photos taken. One step at a time, I suppose.

beso x blushing ambition $250 shopping spree

Since I'm trying to get back into the swing of things right now I thought it would be appropriate to team up with Beso to host a killer contest with a $250 shopping spree up for grabs! If you haven't checked it out already, Beso is a great search engine tool for finding and cataloging your favorite products. One of my favorite things about it is the Collections feature which allows you to get creative and save several shopping lists. I was inspired by the upcoming season to create a Summer Essentials wishlist for a San Francisco "summer" (using quotation marks because everyone knows we don't get a real summer until Sept/Oct, ouch).

TO ENTER:
  • Hop on over to Beso and create an account (if you don't already have one).
  • Build your shopping collection with your favorite products.
  • Leave a comment below and link to your collection.

PRO TIP: Creating a collection is easy if you search around the site and click the "+" symbol next to each product and select "Add to New Collection". From there you can shop to your heart's content! Check out my Summer Essentials collection for inspiration.

* Open to US residents, 18 and older. Contest ends Friday June 1st. One entry per person.

06-01-2012Equipment silk shirt, American Apparel sweater, Shorts c/o Kasil Workshop, Bass Wayfarer Loafers, Pendleton Hat, Karen Walker sunglasses

You see? I don't always wear sunglasses in my photos! Then again, I don't know if I'm really feeling the squinted eye look. Went to In-N-Out today with my friend Emily and was finally able to snap some photos! The weather's been warming up but it's still pretty chilly (this Refinery 29 article about SF summers sums it right up). Oh well, anything above 60 with enough sunshine equals short weather for me. Jenny from Kasil Workshop totally called me out on my affinity for shorts when she emailed me to say that she had a few in mind that I would like, hah.

I thought about joining my roommates and friends who are going up north to Russian River this weekend where it's going to hit 90 degrees but it's too late now. Exactly a year ago a bunch of friends and I rented a cabin for the weekend and had an amazing time, looking at photos makes me wish we'd planned another trip this year! This weekend will be fun in SF though, tomorrow we're going to Mezzanine to see Simian Mobile Disco play a DJ set.

What else? Oh, I also got two new roommates from Montreal who happen to have a really cute lifestyle blog! They're living in San Francisco for the summer and it's been fun showing them around the city this past week.

06-01-201206-01-2012

Had to include these last two photos just for laughs, oops. In other news, my Threadflip closet just got featured on the site! I'll be uploading more things this weekend when I find the time. Oh, and thanks to everyone who entered my giveaway with Beso, the winner will be announced next week!

shirt dress c/o LAmade, A.P.C. trench, Coach classic shoulder bag, Acne Pistol boots, Karen Walker sunglasses

Went to the Ferry Building to grab burgers at Gott's and shoot by the water. We narrowly avoided losing the sunlight as the fog rolled in, half of the photos we took were of me squirming in the wind with my hair and dress blowing everywhere! Didn't end up going to Russian River, unfortunately. I guess I'll have to wait until I fly down to LA this weekend to enjoy warmer weather. I'm going to a few graduations down south and can't figure out if that warrants shopping for new dresses or if I feel I need that retail therapy because I'm feeling a little down due to June Gloom. Either way, I shouldn't shop until I clear out a good amount of my closet so help me out?

Oh, I'm wearing NARS Heat Wave lipstick for anyone who's curious. Should I post a makeup tutorial one of these days? Maybe, we'll see!

Quick post before I fly down to LA since I won't have a camera down there. Nothing special, just a plain white tee and my new light blue jeans from !iTEM. I don't know if I'll ever be able to pull off baggy boyfriend jeans but this pair is a good mix between that and skinny jeans.

Foie-ther's Day Dinner

I'm sure a lot of you who follow me on Instagram/Twitter/Tumblr have already seen these photos from the Foie-ther's Day Dinner with Stag Dining and Kanon Vodka (sorry about the pic spam guys!) but I thought I'd still share them here since I am now officially a FOK! Stay tuned for more posts and collaborations, I'm super excited. I've been hanging out with my Kanon buddies whenever they're in town since their first SF launch dinner and I'm stoked to start contributing to their blog. Read my post about the dinner here.

Snapped some quick photos outside of my apartment. I wish it were warm enough to wear this cropped top with high waisted shorts! The weather on the day of the summer solstice was alright but not ideal. I think it's time to get out of the city for a bit. Sorry about the brevity of this post, longer one coming up tomorrow!

Shot these photos a few days ago before going into the Metreon to watch Prometheus again. I had actually been wearing another coat but scored this Whyred blazer on sale at Urban Outfitters of all places! I'm getting used to wearing a watch again, it's been a while. I'm trying to step up my accessory game, hah. Don't know if I'll start stacking bracelets and get into the whole arm party thing but an oversized watch seems like a good start. Also thanks to Rebecca Minkoff for the awesome bag, feels nice to finally be using an actual bag that isn't a backpack or tote. Baby's growing up?

I was flipping through last month's issue of Lucky Magazine and found Wren's Ikat Shirtdress which I apparently can't find on the site anymore. Bummer, apparently it was 50% off with a code too. Lookbooks like Wren's Summer 2012 one make me seriously consider moving somewhere with a real summer until I realize I don't actually like anything about 85 degrees. The grass is always greener on the other side, I suppose. But seriously though, how sick is that ikat print? Can someone please make a bedspread out of that?

Girl by Band of Outsiders dress from Bastille SF, vintage Levi's gingham shirt, Rebecca Minkoff Romeo bag, Michael Kors watch, Ciara Platform Sandals c/o Pour la Victoire, Karen Walker sunglasses

Wore this yesterday to hang out with friends at Dolores Park in celebration of July 4th! Ended up with blisters after walking around the Mission in these Pour la Victoire sandals. Also kind of regretted my decision to wear a dress when the winds started picking up in the afternoon, oops. Despite a few wardrobe malfunctions I tried my best to be festive by sticking to PBR and Budweiser but immediately regretted it when I started to feel hungover around midnight after drinking all day. Totally worth it though. After the park we wandered over to Dr. Teeth for 25 cent chicken wings and then a friend's house in the outer Mission to light fireworks. We ran out pretty quickly but luckily the neighbors must have had hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars worth of (albeit illegal) pyrotechnics that made our fireworks look like sparklers in comparison. Only in the Mission?

Won Hundred dress c/o Goodstead, Acne jacket, Acne Pistol boots, vintage sunglasses

Wore this dress to the Refinery29 SF Anniversary party last week and put it on again recently, love the print and fit! Not sure about the lipstick, I was reaching for red and ended up with orange, oops. I'm surprised the dress survived the party without any cranberry juice stains or any other spilled drinks. Success!

Not much has been going on, nothing worth mentioning at least. The boy and I have been obsessed with a puzzle game for the iPad called Flow so we haven't been up to much, hah. Old couple status already?

Five things that come to mind when I look at these photos:
  1. I really need a haircut
  2. I should start wearing different shoes at least once a week
  3. The "blogger looking down nonchalantly" pose is not very flattering on me
  4. I was probably looking at my shoes and thinking about point #2
  5. But seriously, why am I always wearing the same shoes when I take photos?
Ahh who cares, these boots are awesome. Best purchase of 2012.

Illy x SF Chefs

Yikes, what a weekend! I think I'm still recovering from all the caffeine and amazing food that I put in my body last Sunday. My friends over at The 88 invited me to join them and illy coffee at SF Chefs this weekend and of course I couldn't say no. The morning started out with the Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony with chef Marcus Samuelsson before moving on into the tent at Union Square. Illy actually had their own tent at the event where endless amounts of coffee were being prepared by bearded baristas (is that a requirement or something?) and hosted chef interviews throughout the day. While I was there I got to try a variety of illy's MonoArabica coffee in various forms: latte, drip, espresso shot, you name it. I probably ended up consuming every single drink they offered (including the canned iced coffees) throughout the day, which would probably explain why I couldn't fall asleep until 3am later that night.

Illy x SF ChefsIlly x SF ChefsIlly x SF ChefsIlly x SF ChefsIlly x SF ChefsIlly x SF Chefs

I also got to hang out with two master Instagram wizards (Bill + Daniel) who were covering the event with me. While watching those two and Harry I was amazed at how much care and attention went into taking and editing Instagram photos. Time to upgrade my dinky photos? I'd still feel inadequate anyway.

The highlight of my day was definitely meeting Marcus Samuelsson and getting to follow him around throughout the day without looking like a creepy stalker (I blame my obsession with Top Chef Masters). I was definitely a little starstruck as I watched him interview people like Drew Nieporent and Martin Yan (anyone remember Yan Can Cook?) and attended his cooking demo on the main stage. I can't wait until the weekend to crack open my copy of his book Yes, Chef.

Finally, last but not least: the food. What else is there to say? Too many things to photograph. Too many things to say. I'll just leave these three photos here and let your imaginations run wild.
